Cancellation and Refund Policy

Legal Notice

Lange Ventures (Pty) Ltd - SMS2SOS.com
Effective Date: 1 April 2026


1. Application of Policy

This Cancellation & Refund Policy applies to all users subscribing to SMS2SOS services via www.sms2sos.com and is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (“CPA”).


2. Subscription Services

SMS2SOS provides a subscription-based emergency notification service:

  • Monthly Plan: From R15 per month, billed monthly or annually
  • Annual Plan: 12-month subscription billed upfront 


By subscribing, you authorise recurring billing in accordance with your selected plan.


3. Cancellation by the User (CPA Section 14 – Fixed-Term Agreements)

In line with Section 14 of the CPA: You may cancel your subscription at any time by providing 30 (thirty) days’ written notice. 


Cancellation can be submitted via email to hello@messagesquare.com or on the SMS2SOS platform, found at www.sms2sos.com using the contact us page form.


Your service will remain active during the notice period. 

Billing will continue during this notice period where applicable. 


4. No Cancellation Penalty

SMS2SOS does not impose a cancellation penalty fee. However, you remain liable for:

Any outstanding amounts due up to the end of the notice period 

Any applicable administration charges as outlined below 


5. Refund Policy – Monthly Subscriptions

Monthly subscriptions are billed in advance and are non-refundable once billed, except where required under applicable law. 

No refunds will be issued for: 

  • Partial use of the service 
  • Non-usage 
  • Dissatisfaction where the service has been made available as agreed 


6. Refund Policy – Annual Subscriptions

For annual (12-month upfront) subscriptions:

Upon valid cancellation, you may request a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the subscription. 


The following will apply: 

A 15% administration and handling fee will be deducted from the refundable amount 

The refund will be calculated from the end of the 30-day notice period 


This approach is aligned with the CPA, which allows suppliers to charge a reasonable cancellation fee 


7. Limitation on Refunds

Refunds will not be granted for:

  • Periods where the service was available but not used 
  • User error, negligence, or failure to utilise the service 
  • Subjective dissatisfaction where SMS2SOS has fulfilled its service obligations 
  • Nothing in this clause limits your rights under the CPA where services are not delivered as agreed.


8. Service Failure or Defect (CPA Rights)

If SMS2SOS fails to provide the service as agreed, you may be entitled to:

A remedy, repair, or correction of the service 

A reasonable refund where applicable under the CPA 

All such claims will be assessed in line with Sections 54 and 56 of the CPA.


9. Refund Processing

Refunds (where applicable) will be processed within 7–14 business days 

Refunds will be paid via the original payment method where possible 

SMS2SOS may request verification before processing refunds 


10. Changes to This Policy

SMS2SOS reserves the right to update or amend this policy at any time. The latest version will always be available on www.sms2sos.com.
